Art Pursuits

Art Pursuits Abroad is a premium art-focused travel concept designed for culturally curious travellers seeking immersive creative experiences abroad. The objective of this project was to develop a refined visual identity that reflects the brand’s emphasis on artistic discovery, cultural depth, and a curated, high-end travel experience.

The identity needed to work seamlessly across multiple touchpoints—including brochures, editorial-style print materials, digital platforms, and promotional assets—while creating a distinctive and aspirational presence that would differentiate the brand within the niche premium travel market.

I led the project from concept through to final execution, including research, visual exploration, logo and monogram development, typography, colour palette creation, and the design of cohesive brand assets.

Research/Discovery

To establish a clear direction for the Art Pursuits Abroad brand identity, I carried out focused research into the market, audience expectations, and how premium art and cultural travel brands present themselves.

What I explored:

  • Audience insights — understanding who the travellers are, what motivates them, and what they expect from curated, art-led experiences.

  • Current branding — reviewing the existing identity to identify gaps in tone, perceived quality, and consistency across touchpoints.

  • Competitor landscape — analysing premium art, cultural, and specialist travel brands to see how they communicate quality, curation, and exclusivity.

  • Internal and external insights — gathering input from internal stakeholders and reviewing customer feedback to identify priorities and opportunities for the brand.

Key Outcomes / Insights:

  • The audience values authenticity, cultural depth, and curated experiences over mass-market travel.

  • Competitor brands often rely on generic travel imagery and messaging, leaving an opportunity for a more art-led, editorial approach.

  • Current branding was presented alongside other travel products (such as Crafting Holidays and Rail Holidays), which diluted the identity and made it harder for the brand to stand out as a premium, niche offering.

  • Consistency and sophistication across all touchpoints are critical to building trust, recognition, and perceived quality.

These insights helped define the overall direction and priorities for the visual identity moving forward.

DEVELOP

DEVELOP

In response to the research insights, I developed a visual identity that positions Art Pursuits Abroad as a premium, curated art travel experience. The concept balances sophistication with approachability, helping the brand stand out in a competitive, high-end market.

Core Elements:

  • Logo & Monogram: A refined monogram conveys creativity and exclusivity, versatile across digital and print touchpoints.

  • Colour Palette: Muted, sophisticated tones with subtle accents evoke cultural richness and premium quality.

  • Typography: Serif and sans-serif pairings provide clarity, hierarchy, and editorial elegance.

  • Imagery & Layout: Full-bleed imagery and spacious layouts showcase destinations, while smaller supporting visuals highlight key details. Thoughtful use of negative space reinforces curation and quality.

  • Brand Touchpoints: Designed to work seamlessly across brochures, print, digital platforms, and promotional materials for consistent brand perception.

Overall, the visual identity communicates premium quality, curated cultural experiences, and an aspirational yet approachable brand personality, positioning Art Pursuits Abroad as a distinguished and memorable offering within the art travel sector.

Solution

Outcome

Although the rebrand was designed and well-received amongst stakeholders during internal presentations, the identity was never launched due to the company being sold before implementation.
